Immediate Reconstruction with Permanent Breast Implant

This method is similar to tissue expansion followed by implant placement, however, the expansion phase of the procedure is omitted. This technique only applies to those who have immediate reconstruction after a “Skin Sparing” mastectomy. A piece of Alloderm or similar material is used to help create a pocket under the chest muscle in order to accommodate the placement and positioning of the implant.

Restoration of the nipple and areola follow. Scars fade substantially with time. The reconstructed breast will likely differ in contour and feel to the natural breast.
